Heliport Drainage System

A professionally built drainage system ensures that liquids are channeled, sub-surface from helideck to drain. This helps spilt fuel drain away quickly and safely and any remaining vapor burn-off can be extinguished in seconds using minimal water spray. The system uses an immersion tube to channelize the drainage, oil & liquid separator and an automatic shut-off valve that prevents the sewage system from getting drained off contaminated waste water.

The gutter built all around the heliport platform is used to channelize waste water to retention basins, usually installed below the platform. The drainage mechanism ensures that oil or liquid are not channeled into municipal waste water. There is a chance of leaking any aviation fuel, oil or any extinguishing water during an accident. The shut-off valve prevents this type of leakage by automatically shutting itself off during copter landing. By confirming that the landing is normal and without incident, the valve reopens automatically in order to facilitate the correct functioning of the drainage system.
